Conservative Charlotte Activist Steps Forward to Challenge Tillis

RALEIGH – With Garland Tucker exiting the race due to fundraising heartburn and impeachment overload, and Sandy Smith jumping to a U.S. House race in District 1, the most unpopular Senator, Thom Tillis, inexplicably, seemed to set to enter the primary virtually unchallenged. Luckily, for those conservatives not enthused with a senator whose definition of success is joining hands with the other side to bask in The Swamp, there is now another option, and without a moment to spare.

Sharon Hudson, a conservative activist from the Charlotte area that has been fighting the broad blue streak in Tillis for years. Hudson, a property manager, was a grassroots leader for Dr. Greg Brannon in his 2014 primary against then Speaker of the NC House Thom Tillis. She also led the charge against toll roads in the Charlotte area, out of sight out of mind for many, but a prominent issue in that region.

It would have been hard to imagine not having a choice other than the least popular senator in the nation. Alas, there is an option to exercise in the primary to help shape the future direction of our next Republican nominee in one way or another.
