RALEIGH – Activists with the Sunrise Movement, an ‘environmental justice’ group branded as the warriors for the Green New Deal, have camped outside the private home of Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) to protest last year’s Colonial Pipeline fuel spill in North Carolina.
Tillis has responded, pointing out that his position in the U.S. Senate doesn’t have anything to do with whatever appropriate responses needed to address this specific spill that happened entirely within North Carolina. The Sunrise Movement zombies don’t care, however, because they are just raging to rage, in hopes of reaping the reward rage politics on the Left seems to produce.
Going on hour 16 camping outside @SenThomTillis house. From sunset to sunrise, fossil fuel billionaires will fall, our generation will rise. #PeopleNotPipelines
And @POTUS: our future’s on the line. We won’t sleep til there’s justice. We need bold climate investment now. pic.twitter.com/djw81TjkSu

What’s radical is living 10 miles from the biggest gas spill in recent US history and taking millions from Colonial’s top shareholder and being able to sleep at night while doing nothing about it.https://t.co/8EdyMCvSwx

The Sunrise Movement is one of the creepier undercurrents within the surge of Leftist agitation and activism. Yes, the rhetoric here is typical of overzealous environmental whackos, especially young ones, but it’s the justice denominator that’s useful to focus on.
The group DID NOT manifest organically. It is funded and promoted by the usual suspects and operates with the same cult-like immersion and Alinsky-inspired organizing methods we see everywhere else these days. For some reason, this relatively unknown group is particularly creepy, and that’s saying something these days.
(Notice how ‘resistance’ and overflowing into the Capitol to confront US lawmakers was en vogue, and celebrated, in 2019. Somehow Democracy survived.)
The organization of young and hopelessly Woke kids call themselves the Climate Revolution. They are revolutionaries in the same sense as Antifa or BLM or the Red Guards, for that matter; they are Marxists branded as climate warriors that believe destroying ‘the system’ by any means necessary is a justified act in pursuit of the revolution.
In fact, while here they are merely camping out and making a lot of noise to make Sen. Thom Tillis uncomfortable, around this time last year the leaders of the Sunrise Movement, with chapters all over the country, were conducting Zoom calls to organize race riots in solidarity with their comrades BLM and Antifa. In those calls they openly discuss the justification for property destruction as a form of protest, specifically burning buildings down, and the nation subsequently watched as cities burned across the country over the Summer of 2020.
Yet it’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what these revolutionaries and their backers want to accomplish. While today’s news is appropriately viewed as ‘just some fools making noise at a politician,’ watch the video below to understand how it is also much more than that.
That context makes these seemingly innocuous tweets hit a little different:
This should be a national story. Colonial Pipeline will continue to sweep their spill under the rug.

We do this to have a future, something @SenThomTillis doesn’t seem to care about. They’re sucking the life out of our planet and taking every chance for life away from future generations.

We need a #CCC and big investment in climate right now. We need bold actions. We need @POTUS to choose a side, or we will for him.https://t.co/cwIOPTRRlX
