[CIVITAS INSTITUTE] The Assault on Families: The NCAE-led lawsuit and what it means for school choice

RALEIGH – As new data suggests what we all know already, that school closures are more correlated with the influence of teachers unions and Leftist politics than actual COVID-19 cases, parents and students are the ones bearing the burden of Left sacrificing education needs of children for pure political gain.

And because control is the name of the Left’s game, school choice is the primary opponent.

The Pandemic Panic certainly did not create the attack on school choice. Instead, it offered public-schools-only activists like the N.C. Association of Educators (NCAE) a massive catalyst to exploit in pushing their agenda more aggressively than ever before. Recently the NCAE filed lawsuits to stop Opportunity Scholarships — a move to force those kids eligible for the scholarships to remain trapped in failing public schools.

It’s unconscionable. The Civitas Institute convened a panel this week to discuss the assault on school choice by the NCAE and what it means for education in North Carolina. It’s a great and informative discussion, with powerful insights, that school choice advocates need to watch:
