CHARLOTTE – Officials in the Queen City apparently don’t like that fact the federal immigration authorities would dare *GASP* enforce immigration laws in their area. After all, Mecklenburg County is supposed to be a sanctuary for illegal aliens if the Sheriff and the majority of the city officials had their way.
Well, it seems quite a few of the council members find the issue so important that they held a meeting to discuss it, and they apparently don’t like to enforce public meetings laws either…
NEW: Charlotte City Council’s immigration committee held an unadvertised, private meeting to discuss the recent ICE arrests and how the committee should move forward.

Sources tell me #CLTCC‘s new immigration committee held a private, two hour meeting Monday, possibly violating open meeting laws. In attendance- all four committee members (Ajmera, Egleston, Mitchell, Newton) , Mayor Vi Lyles and Braxton Winston and staff @wsoctv

The committee was formed by Mayor Vi Lyles in response to the ICE arrests. Immigration has been a hot topic at council lately and has stirred a lot of community interest. A public meeting likely would have drawn significant interest from the public and media, had we been notified

Sources tell me the committee discussed the recent ICE arrests and strategies for how the committee should move forward. Two councilmembers spoke up in the meeting saying the public should have been allowed to be there- @DimpleAjmera and @BraxtonWinston #CLTCC.

Sources say Councilmembers Julie Eiselt and Tariq Bokhari tried to attend the meeting but were told they could not because then there would be quorum.

First of all, the mayor of Charlotte formed a whole new committee on the city council in response to ICE raids? How far will the Left go to protect illegal populations from the law?
Further, these sneaky council members even blocked two other members from coming so as to not reach quorum and make the meeting “official.”
One wonders exactly what kind of “solutions” were discussed at this secret meeting in response to the “problem” of a federal agency enforcing federal laws.
