CRYSTAL COAST – North Carolina native, superstar, cultural icon, living legend. Michael Jordan is up there as far as fame, fortune, and awe. And he’s fishing in the water off of Morehead City right now.
Actually, he’s on the way in, with a blue marlin on board.
The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament held in Morehead City every June is a world renowned competition with one of the biggest prize purses in the world of fishing. It almost didn’t happen this year, because of Pandemic Panic, but organizers decided to make a go for it, sans all the usually crowded parties and events that surround the week of fishing.
So why wouldn’t the ultra-competitive MJ be tempted to cruise his 80 foot ‘Catch 23′ sportfishing boat out toward the Gulf Stream to the Big Rock and see if he and his crew can boat a blue?
Well, they may have come back empty handed on Monday, the first day of fishing, but Catch 23 is currently en route to the weigh station on the Morehead City Waterfront after hooking, fighting, and boating a blue marlin. The Crystal Coast crowd might want to watch such a thing, no?
There is no current ETA on his Airness’ arrival to the docks, but you can watch all the action right here on the live feed.
