Asheville Suffers Consequences of Anti-Police Wokeness, Not Enough Officers to Enforce Laws, Provides Lists of Crime Calls They Will No Longer Respond To

DEFUND THE POLICE painted on street in Asheville, NC

ASHEVILLE – Here’s your sign, Asheville. One of the more Woke cities in the Old North State, often referred to as the little San Francisco of the Blue Ridge Mountains, is struggling to enforce basic law and order because they simply do not have enough police officers.

Too many officers have left the force after more than a year of anti-police rhetoric from elected leaders, constant demonization by social justice warriors, and the city’s embrace of ‘defund’ proposals to satisfy the likes of BLM Inc. The result is totally predictable, and should be a sign to residents of Asheville and Buncombe County that these movements make things worse, not better.

A solution to having so few officers has been presented by the Asheville Police Department — ‘Don’t call us.’

‘Don’t call us for simple assault, if it’s already over.

Don’t call us for theft under $1000.

Don’t call us if someone vandalized your house and you don’t already know who did it.

Don’t call us if you’ve been defrauded or scammed.

Don’t call us if someone broke into your car, if you don’t already know who did it.

Just don’t call us. We don’t have the manpower to handle it, and we won’t come.’

You can almost hear a horde of petty thieves heading to Asheville, now. That’s unfortunate for the residents there, but they cannot say they weren’t warned. This is exactly the kind of unintended, but completely predictable consequences that critics of anti-police movements  have been warning about for over a year.

You can avoid reality all you want; but you cannot avoid the consequences of reality. The Wokies of Buncombe have made their bed, and now they must sleep in it. That is, if someone doesn’t steal it first…
