RALEIGH – As House Bill 370 heads to the governor’s desk (for a likely veto), it’s worth pointing out that every single Democrat in the North Carolina House of Representatives voted against helping federal immigration authorities by simply turning over criminal illegal aliens already arrested for a crime and in custody. Such a unanimous opposition removes all doubt that Democrats have no interest in maintaining even basic norms of law and order that help ensure public safety.
Rep. Destin Hall (R-Caldwell), the primary sponsor of the bill requiring sheriffs and police to cooperate with ICE detainer requests, picked up on what such votes show about the current state of the N.C. Democratic Party.
