RALEIGH – If you’re reading this, this isn’t really news to you. Indeed, you have probably taken the guidance emanating from the likes of Dr. Anthony Fauci and the edicts coming from federal and state executives and their bureaucracies with a few grains of salt for a while now.
Yet, last week, the CDC knocked the salt shaker over. After no change in the science of masks or vaccinated transmission whatsoever, they suddenly reversed course on guidance of mask use. The only thing that did change, was politics. In so doing, the CDC pulled the rug out of people like Governor Roy Cooper and Health Czar Dr. Mandy Cohen, who were in the midst of holding North Carolinians hostage to an arbitrary vaccination rate of 66.6 percent.
This, from a mere week ago, on ABC11 (emphasis added):
“[…] North Carolina’s Health Secretary said the state is still working toward a time when the indoor mask mandate can be lifted.
Dr. Mandy Cohen said the benchmark for eliminating that requirement is having at least 66 percent of adults in the state fully vaccinated. Right now, about half of adults are at least partially vaccinated.
“Before we get rid of that indoor mask mandate, which I know everyone wants to get rid of, we’ve got to work a little bit harder over the next couple of weeks and months to get more folks vaccinated and then hope to, again, put this pandemic in our rearview mirror,” Cohen said.”
One week ago, Cohen (and presumably Cooper) was prepared to keep a mask mandate in place for months longer, meaning any suggestion that the Cooper administration wasn’t caught off guard and put in an awkward position by the CDC change is pure spin.
Moreover, this 2/3 vaccination rate was an increased ultimatum; moving the goal posts again for North Carolinians to regain freedoms from the Cooper administration. And yet, here we are a week later with the same ‘science and data’ and no mask mandate, no social distancing requirements, and no capacity limits.
While it doesn’t amount to an epiphany for many keen observers, the potential effect of this flash change on a great mass of people who have been caught up in Pandemic Panic should not be underestimated. It presents an opportunity for revelation, in which the notion that these mandates and restrictions predicated on ‘science and data’ is revealed as empty, and the motives of politics and power, necessarily fill the void.
The emperor becomes nakedly transparent, even if for just a moment. Don’t worry, though, a significant percentage of people will act as if they didn’t just see that.
While mask and social distancing mandates come off, the administration the COVID cabal is still requiring kids to wear face masks in school. Why? Low vaccination rates.
Indeed, the Cooper administration has shifted (were pushed) from holding your face hostage to a vaccination ultimatum, to holding kids hostage to a vaccination ultimatum.
You know, the population least at risk for COVID or COVID transmission, and by far the MOST eligible to take the face diapers off, are going to be forced to continue wearing them at school to keep the delusion of a narrative alive. As hard as it has become for the Left to sell the fear and compliance narratives, on account of so many inescapable realities, they will not just abandon the plot.
Doing so would undermine so much progress in pursuit of the Left’s agenda, and it’s all about politics.
