A Familiar (Two)Face Files for NC 9th District Special Election

RALEIGH – The filing period has closed for the special election in North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District and a total of 13 people have thrown their hat in the ring. There are some good Republican candidates, and we will be profiling a couple of them in the coming days, but one candidate sticks out for a particular reason.

His name: Chris Anglin. His Deal: Tried and true election spoiler as a fake Republican.

You might remember Anglin from the 2018 race for N.C. Supreme Court. He walked through the giant gaping hole left by the N.C. General Assembly when the Raleigh attorney switched party affiliation from Democrat, to Republican to become the third wheel in that race.

Anglin worked with a Democratic campaign consultant to spoil the reelection chances of Republican N.C. Supreme Court Justice Barbara Jackson. Jackson was already in a tough reelection battle against avowed social justice warrior Anita Earls, and the NCGOP completely abandoning support of her and keeping Republicans on the high court.

That race ended in a win for Earls, who is now a bona fide member of the state supreme court, ready to enact social justice ‘equity’ wherever she can.

Now Anglin has turned his attention to the 9th District so the fake Republican can do what he can to disrupt that race. It won’t be so clear cut this time around, however, being that there are more than a dozen candidates. Still, it reinforces the nature of the Left and the lengths they will go to in order to much up electoral wins for true Republicans.

While Anglin is betting Republicans will be fooled enough to cast a vote for a fake Republican, the NCGOP is not playing along.

NCGOP Executive Director Dallas Woodhouse and Chairman Robin Hayes let be known that they will not grant Anglin any data to exploit for the run. Anglin threatened to sue over the issue, even though the party is a private organization that can do what they want with such data. Actually, Woodhouse promptly told Anglin to, “Go to hell.”

The 9th District race comes about, of course, due to an absentee ballot fraud investigation that resulted in the calling of a new election by a new State Board of Elections. It is one of two special congressional elections happening in the state, the other being the Third District race to fill the seat of the late Walter B. Jones.
