Franklin Graham Sends Lt. Gov. Forest, NC Legislature Big Thank You For Not Repealing HB2

Famed evangelist, and North Carolina resident, Franklin Graham, son of legendary evangelist Billy Graham, took to Facebook before Christmas to send North Carolina’s Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest and the General Assembly a big “thank you” for not repealing HB2.

Prior to the special session the legislature called to take up the possibility of a HB2 repeal, Lt. Governor Forest was one of the most vocal opponents of any repeal.

“No economic, political or ideological pressure can convince me that what is wrong is right. It will always be wrong for men to have access to women’s showers and bathrooms,” Forest said in a statement.

“If HB 2 is repealed, there will be nothing on the books to prevent another city or county to take us down this path again.”

Graham specifically commended Forest and the legislatures who “stood strong and resolute for HB2” despite the overwhelming pressure from outside radical liberal forces, such as the mainstream media.

Back in September, Graham spoke out on the hotly debated issue that has overtaken North Carolina politics and become a national story, describing HB2 as a purely moral issue while calling out Pastors and churches who avoided the topic and didn’t stand up.

“Pastors and churches across North Carolina—this isn’t only an important issue of privacy and safety, this is a moral issue,” wrote Graham.

“You are shepherds of the flock. Shepherds protect, speak out, and defend. Where is your voice in this issue? Let Gov. McCrory and the state legislators hear your support. Don’t let them be forced into repealing HB2.”

With HB2’s repeal failing in the North Carolina legislature last week, we can expect debate over the issue to continue into 2017 and beyond.
