Cooper Statewide Lockdown Order Imminent?

RALEIGH – He just can’t help himself. The reaction functions have been, by now, well established. If cases of a virus appear to be, well, viral, Governor Roy Cooper is going to restrict individual citizens’ liberties in order to ‘do something,’ regardless of the effectiveness and/or costs of that ‘something.’

He’s all but telling us as much through his latest comments to the press during a tour at RTP.

We’re going to analyze all of the potential additional steps we could take. We know the order expires December 4, but it’s possible we might do something before that time. We’ll do what we need to do if the science and data tell us we need to do that.”

“We are particularly concerned with the percentage positive in cases is creeping up although it has not gotten into double digits yet. We will do what we need to do in order to protect the health and safety of North Carolinians.”

Just like March, with liberal cities and states locking down in an overeager reaction to help Pandemic Panic endure, the peer pressure among electeds like Cooper is to join up in the lockdown. After all, all of Cooper’s cohorts in New York (where he launched his reeleciton campaign with a ritzy fundraiser) and California (where he goes to get financial and political back up from the Powers of the Left Coast) are diving back into strict lockdowns, including school closures in the former and statewide curfews for the latter.

We wouldn’t be surprised if Cooper came out before the weekend to announce an imminent return to lockdown. That should make for some good fodder for Thanksgiving dinner among the throngs of families that have some ‘strong suggestions’ of their own for ‘King Cooper’ and his meddling in their holiday plans; plans that will go forward as mostly normal celebrations of America’s most culturally unique holiday with friends, family, and appreciation for the American spirit of individualism that produces so much to be thankful for.
