WASHINGTON, D.C. – Perception is reality. That certainly seems to be the case when it comes to the who “won” the presidential election.
Yes; Joe Biden is leading in the projection of electoral votes, exceeding the required 270 for victory. No; the results have not been certified. Yes; multiple lawsuits are being filed in a handful of critical states, the ultimate results of which could impact the results for the respective states. No; media outlet projections do not constitute an official victory.
As unlikely as a reversal might seem — there are many hurdles the Trump campaign must overcome to make a case sufficient to question results in states like Pennsylvania — the process for reviewing and ruling on legal challenges is just as important to the ‘Democracy,’ as the Left would say, as anything else.
That’s because trust in the electoral system is paramount. Questions about election integrity need to be addressed if that trust is to be maintained, regardless of how much Democrats and the media want to call the race and move on.
No matter. Media outfits called the race Saturday, as the Democrat’s lead in Pennsylvania grew; Joe Biden and Kamala Harris gave victory speeches Saturday night; by Sunday, news shows and political sites were already mapping out the Biden cabinet.
And, just like that, anyone questioning whether or not Biden really won the presidency is uniformly labeled a kook and a sore loser.
They Leftist media knows exactly what it is doing. It just might work.
First, though, they’ll have to hope and pray that the Trump campaign lawsuits don’t turn up evidence of irregularities sufficient to change the status of critical swing states.
There are court cases in Pennsylvania; Michigan; Arizona; Georgia; and Nevada. There is a definite recount in Wisconsin, and perhaps in other states as well. This weekend, Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito instructed Pennsylvania to separate all ballots received after 8:00 PM on election day, the date and time acceptance of ballots ends according to Pennsylvania state law.
A similar dynamic exists in North Carolina after the State Board of Elections usurped the power of the legislature to effectively make new election laws in extending the acceptance date.
None of these states, including North Carolina, have certified results. The Old North State is waiting until the end of this week (November 12) to finalize results. We wouldn’t be surprised if, by that time, the media announced the Democrat candidate’s projected victory in the 2024 elections.
So, while it appears that Joe Biden has won, it is far from settled. Any serious attempt at ‘unifying’ and ‘healing the nation’ requires that deference be given to legal processes to confirm the integrity of votes across the nation.
