A Winston-Salem woman who served as the “Cookie Manager” for the Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont Troop #2819, has been arrested for stealing more than $7,000 of the money the troop raised from selling Girl Scout cookies.
According to WFMY, Winston-Salem Police received a report of fraud from the Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont on August 30.
Investigators determined that the woman, 43-year-old Debbie Jo Davidson, the “Cookie Manager,” stole the money from the troop’s cookie sales and used it for herself.
Investigators say the alleged crime took place at Winston-Salem’s Sedge Garden United Methodist Church.
Davidson was arrested by Winston-Salem Police, and charged with one count of obtaining property by false pretense.
After being arrested, Davidson was released from custody after posting her $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on January 31.
According to The Girl Scouts Peak to Piedmont’s website, the organization serves nearly 14,000 girls in central and western North Carolina.
