Tillis And Schumer Team Up To Protect Mueller

WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Trump’s personal attorney has his office raided by the FBI, spurring all sorts of discussion about legal scope and just how far off track the Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s “Russia Collusion” witch hunt has gone, and what does Sen. Thom Tillis (RINO-NC) do?

He teams up with ultra-liberal Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to protect Mueller, of course.

The attention-seeking RINO could hardly wait to call on congress to pass his bill that would shield Mueller, or any other special counsel, from firing, and found himself aligned with a prominent Democrat who wants to do the same thing for partisan purposes.

“Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (N.Y.) on Tuesday called on Senate GOP leaders to bring legislation to the floor that would protect special counsel Robert Mueller from being fired in the midst of heightened tension over his investigation into Russian election meddling.

Schumer called for new protections of Mueller hours after the FBI raided the Manhattan office of Trump’s longtime personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, enraging the president.

The Democratic leader warned that Mueller’s investigation must be allowed to proceed unimpeded to avoid a constitutional crisis.

He noted that there are several bipartisan bills to protect the special counsel.

“Let us take steps to protect the special counsel from political interference. We have several bipartisan bills designed to do just that. Majority Leader [Mitch] McConnell should bring them to the floor and let us debate them very soon,” Schumer said.
Trump blasted the Department of Justice Tuesday morning after FBI agents used a search warrant to seize documents from Cohen’s office and residence on Monday afternoon.”

One of those ‘bipartisan bills’ Schumer references is Tillis’ ‘Protect Mueller’ bill.

“Democrats and a few Republicans have pushed in recent months for legislation to protect the special counsel’s independence.

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) last year floated a bill that would empower judges to reinstate Mueller if a court found his firing to be improper.

That bill was cosponsored by Sen. Christopher Coons (D-Del.).

Another bipartisan bill sponsored by Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Cory Booker (D-N.J.) would require judicial approval of any effort by the Justice Department to fire Mueller.

Most Republicans, including GOP leaders, however, have argued prior to this week that legislation is not necessary because Trump is unlikely to fire Mueller.”

Tillis has a habit of teaming up with Democrats to sponsor bills that accomplish the Left’s goals. He seems to be following Sen. Lindsay Grahm-nesty (RINO-SC).

Notice the last section there: GOP leaders think the legislation is completely unnecessary. Even the Establishment Republicans leadership knows that the hysteria over Trump firing Mueller and the phony scare mongering about a constitutional crisis only serves the Left’s interests in smearing Trump and Republicans.

The ginned up fear of Trump firing Mueller actually works to legitimize an otherwise bogus investigation. In fact, Mueller would benefit from being fired because then he would be a martyr and the worst assumptions would be made about the president.

On the other hand, if Mueller (some day) concludes his investigation with absolutely no evidence of crimes related to the initial focus of the probe he, and those that backed his witch hunt, will be discredited.

If Tillis does run for reelection in 2020, the least he could do is be honest with North Carolina voters by switching his registration to Democrat.
