Rapper Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs Wants to Buy the Carolina Panthers… With Colin Kaepernick, Steph Curry?

Immediately following the Carolina Panthers’ Sunday night announcement that team owner Jerry Richardson was placing the franchise he founded up for sale, many here in North Carolina and across the nation began to speculate on who the Panthers’ next owner may be.

While it’s anyone’s guess on which mega-rich individual will ultimately be capable of jumping through all of the hoops the NFL puts in place for potential owners, one name is certainly getting the most attention early in the process – Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs.

The well-known liberal rapper took to Twitter not long after the Panthers’ announcement to make it known that he wants to become the NFL’s next owner, in the name of “diversity,” of course.

P. Diddy’s desire to become a NFL owner isn’t new, with the rapper declaring as early as 2013 that he ‘will be the NFL’s first black owner.’

However, becoming a NFL owner is easier said than done.

Despite the fact that the Panthers are, according to Forbes, just the 21st most valuable team in the NFL, their current $2.3 BILLION estimated price tag is certainly outside the reach of a single individual who’s net-worth is only about $820 MILLION, as P. Diddy’s currently is.

Of course, there aren’t many individuals on the planet who could single handedly purchase a NFL franchise on their own, so there’s little doubt P. Diddy will need more than a few of his wealthy friends to join him as part of a potential ownership group.

And it already looks like P. Diddy may have plenty of options with multiple fellow millionaires voicing their desire to join the rapper’s ownership group.

First, NBA All-Star and North Carolina native Steph Curry jumped on the bandwagon, hoping to get himself a piece of the Panthers’ pie.

Then, earlier today, the NFL’s most famous unemployed quarterback took a break from his social justice warrior shtick to also throw his hat in the ring.

That’s right, this time next year Colin Kaepernick, the man most responsible for the NFL’s declining ratings, could be a part owner of the Carolina Panthers.

Let that sink in.

Soak it all in.

Fortunately for Panthers’ fans currently wanting to vomit over the idea that these three well-known radical liberals who constantly complain about our country but have benefited so greatly from it to the tune of more than a BILLION dollars in combined net-worth, there’s little chance this nightmare scenario becomes a reality.

Regardless of the fact the NFL currently finds itself in a few “controversies,” the league has a long, long history and track record of doing everything they can to avoid controversy.

This is the league, after all, that forced Rush Limbaugh out of a potential ownership groups bid for the then St. Louis Rams franchise almost a decade ago.

So, one can assume the idea of allowing someone with a rap sheet as long as Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs’ – with his most recent offense being his attack on a UCLA football coach with a kettle bell because his son wasn’t getting enough playing time – to become a NFL owner would be a non-starter.

And that’s not to mention the fact that the NFL is currently doing everything it can to put out the dumpster fire Colin Kaepernick started and continues to fuel.

Could anyone imagine the utter destruction of the league Kaepernick could inflict with the platform of an owner?

What an unmitigated disaster that would be.

And let’s not forget the fact that the guy so excited about becoming a NFL owner today, is the same Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs who threw a hissy fit after no team signed Kaepernick and demanded black players start their own, all-black league separate from the NFL.

Surely the NFL will totally understand that move.

Needless to say, it’s a farfetched idea for a P. Diddy-led ownership group featuring Colin Kaepernick and Steph Curry to have any real shot of buying the Carolina Panthers.

Unfortunately for all of us, though, we do live in a world in which crazier things are happening everyday.
